Dear People of St. Patrick Parish,
As we gather for Mass today, we remember last week, we reflected upon the day we were Baptized and what that means as we go about our lives.
As we gather today, we reflect upon the gifts we received from God on the day of our Baptism and also as we received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Each one of us has received gifts from the Holy Spirit to help us on our journey to Heaven, hopefully.
Parents, grandparents, godparents have the gift of passing on the Catholic Faith to their family and even more important, the duty to teach and help their family to practice their Catholic Faith.
This gift is often in sending the children to Catholic Schools or to enroll and provide Faith Formation classes for them which means you get them to the classes.
Teachers are needed both in our Catholic Schools, but also in our Faith Formation, Youth Ministry classes and activities. We need you to use your gifts, to help teach and form our youth.
Children have the use of the gifts of being altar servers, singing in the choir, ushers, lectors and by the way, we adults are also needed to use our gifts in these ministries.
Let us pray about our gifts and find ways to use them to help lead others to Christ.
The Gospel has Jesus work His First Miracle at the Wedding Feast of Cana. Mary told Jesus, “They have no wine,” it had run out and she trusted that Jesus can and will help this young couple by working a miracle, and He did.
In working this miracle, Jesus shows His love, compassion and caring and He is still doing these things for us today.
Let us pray for our brothers and sisters who are affected by the fires in Los Angeles, that they will put faith and hope that God will help them in these difficult days.
God Bless,
Fr. Larry Young
