Dear People of St. Patrick Parish,
The first reading today reminds us to think of all the good things God has done for us and our families and all the many things we have or have not done for God.
Paul reminds us in the letter to the Romans, “No one who believes in the Lord will be put to shame.” For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Yes, we should be willing to share that message with family, friends, co-workers, classmates and people we meet, but we must believe it in our hearts to share with them.
We are so blessed to have Jesus who was tempted three times in the Gospel today by the lying Devil, to love us and help us as the same Devil constantly tempts us to sin and join Him and the fallen angels in Hell.
These 40 days of Lent and Holy Week, gives us the chance to see our temptations and to ask Jesus through the Sacraments, to help us overcome them and put them out of our lives.
Prayers, Fasting and Abstinence, along with staying away from the things that tempt us to sin can help us to send the Devil back to His home in Hell.
The TV screen and monitors you see in the Church today are not there to watch the 2025 Super Bowl, but to help us participate better in the Mass. Best news of all it did not cost the Parish a dime.
God Bless,
Fr. Larry Young
